Howdy! Welcome to our world. Just West of Hell isn't your normal band. We aren't PC, and we aren't concerned with perfect. We just want the spirit of what's going on to show thru. Some things are raw, most songs are done in two or three takes - total - and we have songs that are guaranteed to offend those with tender feelings. If you can hang, you'll probably get a kick out of it, and we'd love to 'have you around'. If you hate it, that's cool too. We're not for everyone, and it doesn't hurt our feelings a bit if we don't 'do it' for you! Make yourself happy, cuz life's too short!
Story behind the song
This is the first JWoH song that we have put up since Tony passed away. It's been a little while now, and we're just now starting to be able to go thru the giant mounding pile of songs and tracks that we accumulated in our time playing together. This...is the icebreaker, and now having done it once, hopefully it should get a little easier.
This piece was intended to be something to put on in the background and then either write, read, study, or program to - It was supposed to be 'there' and listenable but not to be distracting you from what you were supposed to be doing...

In many ways, this piece epitomizes the way that JWoH worked. Tony/KD/AE would come up with a riff, a beat feel, or a line, and we'd hash it out for maybe 3-4 minutes. We'd put down the primary tracks, and while we were doing that PH would be improvising a vocal line. Once the 1st tracks were down, we did vocals, synth, percussion, second tracks for guitar etc. Then the next take was 2nd vocal tracks and anything else.. It was just that simple for virtually every song we ever did. In this specific case it went like this:
Take one - guitar, bass & drums, all at the same time.
Take two - 1st vocal track, synth parts, chimes, noises
Take three - 2nd vocal track, headphone feedback
Two takes for this mix (one instrumental, one w/ vocals)
Time - from nothing at all to this mix - 1.5 hours total.
There were no overdubs at all on any tracks, no "fixing" of any parts in any way - This is exactly how it happened...
