Story behind the song
It was inspired by Jim Croce, and prompted by a songwriting assignment on a guitar forum I'm a member of.
Lyrics
One fine night, long time ago In Lou'siana Town Two fine men were playin' a show And people gathered round. The crowd they all stood singin' As Maury played guitar The music was their reason and Jim Croce was the star. Ch: All of these years later People sadly say There's one less set of footsteps In this world today. Sang a song about an "Operator" You can keep the dime A couple more songs, And an hour's passed I do believe it's time. People started leavin' The place had been quite full The awful thing that happened next We remember still. Solo Chorus x2
