New song with lyricist Bella Wenum
Good enough for electronica.
This is me (Simon Speed) writing and producing music on my own and with my friends, particularly Jonathon Harflett (formerly of Dawnwind).
Story behind the song
A collaboration between myself and Bella Wenum. We got together on www.sharemylyrics.com, where I was impressed by her witty and evocative lyrics. I believe this is her first song.
This is an electronic performance with my vocoded vocals which doesn't do the song justice. In particular the lyrics cannot be clearly heard.
Lyrics
City By the Sea by Bella Wenum
In Morte Ville, a little city by the sea
He said, "One more song and she`s dead to me"
A slow moon passes, he hears an echo
She`s a sequined dream atop a grand piano
This boy who thrives on his pain
Lost his head in the summer rain
It makes you so crazy that you`ll do
Things no one would expect of you
Friend told him, "Man, you gotta get some help
Before you act out those dreams on someone else"
But this boy, he bought himself a .45
Said, "It`s all the same, I`ll endure, I`ll survive"
Chorus
The fog clouds his mind, bewitched his clarity
He said, "One more song and she`s dead to me"
She steps into the lights, he lifts the .45
In that moment, he had never felt so alive
Chorus
He could hear the screams, those lovely echoes
Rattling his brain, sensors blinking no
She ran from the stage, that sequined dream
Cradled his head as she cried
"How could you do this to me?"
