From the depths of America’s finest city, two artists emerge with determination, skill, and pure talent to bring a new innovative sound to the face of Hip Hop. The two combine to form Akaliko, a unique band of microphone bandits and beat composers. Akaliko has been developing their skill for the last few years in the San Diego area. Ja, am I in? (Jamin Barnes) hails from Sacramento where he’s been honing his lyrical creativity for the last decade. Humble Idea (James Roit) has been developing his musical gift since youth in the suburbs of Chicago. Their musical talent continues to grow and knows no boundaries. The group has independently released a full length LP “Unconditioned to Time and Season”, which was well received by the underground communities of both southern and northern California. They are currently working on a new project “Da Tighty Whiteys”, and are more than nine songs deep. Akaliko continues to do shows not just locally, but in different states and countries. The group had the unique opportunity to do the first live Hip Hop performance in Darwin, Australia. For more information on the group go to www.akalikomusic.com. Akaliko is determined to challenge the status quo. They would rather be leaders than followers. The following contains a small sample of their talent. I guarantee you will hear more from them in years to come.

Lyrics
Let the Truth Be Told chorus: You can keep on tellin' lies The truth the truth Someday they will realize The truth the truth I can see death in your eyes The truth the truth Greed will lead to your demise The truth the truth Humble Idea: We're watchin' you feedin' gibberish to the people's mind Hidden under a suit and tie Attemptin' to sparkle the public eye Well I got my right hand coverin' over one of mine So I only witness a half-assed politician on a mission that's straight lyin' People are dyin' The same ones we're tryin' to save Enslave the belief through proganda That their own dictator's the one to blame It seems world economic domination's The motivation to go against the patient deliberations of the United Nations So we use nucular weapon examinations Makin' it sound like we're defendin' ourselves against a terrorist organization Then we pinpoint discooperation as instigation To give us justification for the annihilation After the invasion we'll take the entire nation And lift the sactions so the people will be without starvation We'll build an installation in the formation of a puppet administration With a firm dedication to obey the orders of D.C.'s congregation Givin' big business a better situation Meanwhile I'm gettin' shot up with a smallpox vaccination Wonderin' why this world's filled up with so much hatin' On a constant quest to take over the next man for the takin' I guess it's all for the persuit of happiness Who really gives a fuck if people are dyin' or don't exist And you'll never hear about it through the form of the press I guess that's what they called democracy at it's best (chorus) Ja, am I in?: Hey Mr. Congressman I don't understand why I gotta sweat this dude cause Iraq And you send me to the land of rock and sand And command me to turn it into galss in a short span of time But I was thinkin' that it's us who really committed the crime So fuck what you tryin' Man you need to stop lyin' The International Court only convicted Americans of terrorism Look that shit up if you ain't believin' And check out how we bombed the only building in Sudan producin' medicine As a result millions of people are dyin' I know we're bombin' Iraq to overthrow Suddam Hussein But it's more like big business in American interest that's the blame Yes they're easy to tame cause their military ain't shit We've been bombin' them since 1990 and ain't stopped yet So bet Better believe that I seen that with my own eyes And realize I don't apologize Yes I side with the protest to stop the unrest And that's a testiment from my own experience from my six year enlistment That was way too motherfuckin' long Only world united in hip-hop can stand strong (chorus) `
