Hi! Welcome to my page. First off, I am primarily a lyricist who occasionally composes his own melodies. That's why you'll see/hear some cowritten songs here. Secondly; I can't sing, even if my life depended on it, so I've posted Studio Demos. Third; I listed my songs as "country, general" but I hope you'll find a little more variety here than what you expected. My hope is that you'll find these songs Very accessible; Songs you can sing along with, Songs you'll know by Heart. ENJOY!!!

Story behind the song
My cowriter told me that "No one writes waltzes anymore". I thought to myself, "Heck I don't even KNOW how to waltz!", and the song just... came.
Lyrics
TEACH ME TO DANCE V1> I went to a Dance Hall one Saturday night It wasn’t too crowded but the band was all right A middle-aged couple stepped out on the floor As the band played a tune I had not heard before Chorus 1> Won’t you teach me to dance in three-quarter time? It’s more than a waltz it’s a new state of mind I could float I could fly leave the world far behind If you’ll teach me to dance in three-quarter time V2> When the song ended they went back to their chairs And a pretty young lady was sitting right there She was their youngest daughter and I took a chance As I walked up to her and asked her to dance Chorus 2> Won’t you teach me to dance in three-quarter time? It’s more than a waltz it’s a new state of mind We could float we could fly leave the world far behind If you’ll teach me to dance in three-quarter time V3> Every Saturday night for the past eighteen years We’ve danced in this place through our joy and our tears Now our own teenage daughter is here by my side As she asks me this question there’s a tear in my eye V4> As I dance with my daughter a thought comes to me Life is turning full circle that’s the way it should be It won’t be too long now ‘til there comes a day When a handsome young man will see her and say Won’t you teach me to dance in three-quarter time? © 2003, music & lyrics by Timothy D Brown
