Story behind the song
This is a song I wrote and had performed at our church's Christmas eve service. Its meant as a reminder to my son(but really myself, as well) not to get too caught up in the materialism of Christmas, but to remember the quiet mystery of Christ's birth.
Lyrics
ONE MORE SILENT NIGHT
BY HARRY RICHARSON C. 2003
A little boy holds a candle gently in his hands,
still too young to clearly understand what he sees.
But on this Christ-mas Eve, I see the quiet wonder in his eyes,
I see him slow-y start to realize what it means.
And as choirs sing of peace on earth, goodwill to all man kind,
I ask this simple prayer to You, my Lord, that my lit-tle boy may find...
Just one more Silent night,
Let him learn the truth behind the song.
Just a little more candle light,
before the world turns the lights back on.
As he opens gifts tomorrow, let him learn this Christmas Eve,
That the one that came wrapped in swaddling clothes
Is the only one he'll need.
A sing-le star, burning in the nighttime led the way
To a t-ny child a sleep on a bed of hay,
They wor-shipped at his sight.
Now on this holy night, may the story come alive with in his heart.
May he come to know the love that took away the dark
With it's unending light.
The one that came wrapped in swaddling clothes
Is the only one he'll need.
