THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL OF JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH'S 51 PRELUDES AND FUGUES. THERE ARE OVER 1000 KNOWN COMPOSITIONS BY BACH. BECAUSE OF THE SONOROUS SOUNDS OF THE CONCERT BAND INSTRUMENTS, THERE ARE NOW HUNDREDS OF BACH ARRANGEMENTS FOR BAND.

Contemporary band compositions, classical music arrangements, marches, jazz, symphonies, overtures. A collection from bands that I have played in throughout hi
Hello and welcome! "Symphonic Band Performances" is a compilation of recordings from several high school and college bands that I played in including the TMEA (Texas) All State Band, the TMEA Region X All Region Band, the Interlochen Arts Academy National Music Camp, the Cal Poly Tech Band, San Luis Obispo, the USAF Golden West Band, and recordings from my h.s. band, Beaumont H.S. and a few band recordings that were passed down to me. Also included are various All State groups and college and university bands. I participated and played in the large majority of these recordings. There are no professional recordings here and every recording is Public Domain. Most are available for free download. Each song has been converted from the original analog or digital source and edited with Audacity or Dak software. In the majority of these recordings, I play the tenor sax or alto sax, b flat or e flat clarinet, or directing. I was drum major for 2 years in high school, I have a BA from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where I studied music ed, composition and theory. I had about 500 more recordings I was planning to digitize and upload, but this past Nov. 20th, my home was completely destroyed by fire, and all the contents, including all my music and instruments. So, this is it. Please feel free to post a comment here or on my member page. If you like, please become a fan by clicking "I'm a fan" below.

Story behind the song
This is performed on 1-13-67 by the outstanding University of Michigan Symphonic Band, conducted by the famed director, William D. Revelli. Dr. Revelli directed the band from 1935-1971. He was also our director at the Interlochen National Music Camp. Johann Sebastian Bach Born: 21 March 1685 Birthplace: Eisenach, Thuringia (now Germany) Died: 28 July 1750 Best Known As: German Baroque composer Johann Sebastian Bach, the most renowned member of a distinguished family of German musicians and composers, is considered one of the greatest composers in history. A virtuoso organist who was famous throughout Germany during his career, Bach served as court musician and composer in Arnstadt, Weimar, Köthen and finally as cantor and director of music at Leipzig (1723-50). His most famous works include The Brandenberg Concertos, Well-Tempered Clavier and Art of the Fugue. Bach's fame during his lifetime was due to his ability as an organist more than his reputation as a composer, but since the 19th century he has been hailed as a genius whose work represents the peak of the Baroque era. Bach fathered 20 children, some of whom were also celebrated musicians, and he was the grandfather of noted composer Johann Christian Bach (1735-82)...Bach's music inspired a 1968 hit record: Switched-on Bach by electronic music pioneer Wendy Carlos... Popular cellist Yo-Yo Ma is known for his interpretations of several Bach pieces.
