I'm too old to remember why I wrote this song. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Acoustic folk rock, singer-songwriter
I've been singing since I was able to gurgle but only playing the guitar since I was 11, when my "father homeward came one day and gave to me a toy" (Thanks, Tom). That was about 50 years ago give or take a few months and I've been singing, playing and writing songs on and off, during all that time.

Story behind the song
My take on the battle of the sexes. I recorded this song using a Gibson L-7 miked up. While we were mucking around in the studio I came across a CD of ambient noises and we began to listen to them. Things like dogs barking, car horns, traffic and so on. I thought it would be fun to record the song as though I was busking in the street. This isn't such an original idea. I recall being impressed with a Lol Coxhill record a few years back, a live recording of him playing under Hungerford Bridge, outside Charing Cross Underground station. And there is also the wonderful outdoor ambience of "Theme for Eulypions" by Rahsaan Roland Kirk. For a guitarist, I seem to have been influenced a lot by sax players! Listen carefully you can hear the traffic, the dog, the horns and my grateful thanks as coins rattle into the cup!
