Story behind the song
In 1986 John and I were fortunate enough to be invited by Ron Frede to play at the annual Spaghetti Dinner Jazz concert. I got to play with the alumni band and Ron let John and I play 4 of our own songs. This is the first of the 4, I will post the others later. Sadly there is rather chewed up section at about 4 minutes into the recording, but this was really fun for us to get to go back and play at McCluer, so I'll post it anyway. You get to here Frede talk at the start and I did cut some of the excess chatter from him at the beginning. This is the way we used to sound live just the two of us. On this particular song we do have a pre-recorded bass, horn/synth and drums. The rest is John on keyboard, me on guitar and guitar synth, during the choruses are when my guitar synth kicks in as a string part. John on lead vocals and me on the harmony vocals during the call and answer section. Yes Jeff ocassionaly sings.
