Story behind the song
This is one I wrote a while back that we used to get a lot of request for. People really liked dancing to it.
Lyrics
Waltzes and Love Songs Words and Music by Charles Kirkland V1 There were tears in her eyes The first night we met Nothing I could do Seemed to make her forget A love gone bad A life torn apart Until the band played a love song And I waltzed into her heart V2 The lights were down low With her hand in mine I lead her to the dance floor In three quarter time Beneath the neon light I saw a smile on her face The tears in her eyes A sparkle had replaced Chorus (¾ Time) Waltzes and love songs Are the best remedy For those broken heart ladies In need of company So if the times will abide you Or the chances arise Have the band play a slow waltz And wipe the tears from her eyes V3 When the song was over I stood there amazed I could see the difference One simple dance had made Her troubles seemed to leave her Like nothing was ever wrong That just goes to show you The power of a song V4 She sat down at my table And we talked the night away We got up and danced To every love song that was played Before the night was over Right around last call I tipped the band a twenty So they'ed play one last waltz Chorus (¾ Time) Waltzes and love songs Are the best remedy For those broken heart ladies In need of company So if the times will abide you Or the chances arise Have the band play a slow waltz And wipe the tears from her eyes Tag With her head on my shoulder I wiped the tears from her eyes
