I am a pianist who also plays hurdy gurdy and I like to combine the two instruments (this is not possible on my own in real time!). Putting chordal piano music against droning gurdy melodies makes for an interesting combination, with or without the rhythmic buzz which has to be used with some care.

Story behind the song
Here's another tune with an unusual time signature - mainly in alternating 7-8 and 11-8, with a few bars of 10-8 in the C section as suggested by Renate Janssen. It starts in a minor key, suitable for a grey day, but brightens by raising the drone to the relative major in an upbeat ending.
