Lyrics
OLD LAKE I returned to that old lake today, & found it dry of all that remembered rain The verdant valley now grey in vain, all our history awash down the drain Sad to say there's nothing to hold on to here, not even your coat or drowning hand my dear Though I hope there's a green spring in a distant desert The silver mists hung over the Dene, split apart by this apathetic stream, of recognised moments appearing as clouds, tears formed landslides, I was screaming outloud In that moment I felt foreign winds had changed, butterflies expired, not meaning to live into the cold age and I hope the new moon/ betta stay outta my way tonight.... There's a light in the city tonight that reminds me of last fall Bare trees abide the winter neon strides and for me that speaks it all Not cold logic of love, nor hot passion of science, could stop this becoming another beautiful shipwreck of my heart, across a distant ocean of doomed defiance In case of emergency break out the rafts, I've really been trying But I'm stargazing up through that old lake, one more time..
