Story behind the song
Felt like writing a song about King Arthur and realizing everything you've worked for is gone.
Lyrics
Kingdom Come,The knights are gone
Merlin's on a vegas stage
The story ends,the world moves on
It's Time to write another page
Arthur on his broken throne
round the table split in two
his dreams are shattered, his cover blown
Just a farmboy, nothing new.
Guinevere and Lancelot
in some walmart parking lot
They bid farewell to Camelot
as twilight drags to dawn
Arthur knows not what to do
Where's the beauty that he knew?
Excalibur has rusted through
From all those tears of Avalon
The castle falls, the cities rise
The poor work hard to feed the rich.
And Slowly some poor lady dies
in some poisoned dismal ditch.
The stone is just a tourist trap
on the highway by the church
For families lost without a map
For dreamers with no place to search
Galahad and Miss Le Fay
on their blissful wedding day
The burning coach drives them away
To picket fences and a lawn
And Arthur lies in Central Park
Through the evening, into dark
he listens as the stray dogs bark
And cries the tears of Avalon
Mordred took the Holy Grail
Filled with lies and ancient ale
The movie rights are up for sale
So much for Arthur's Paragon
And so he leaves to some far shore
With Yesteryear, his paramour
And he's alone, not long before
he drowns in tears of Avalon
