Your Front Door (Restored)
Remember those slightly racy R&B sounds of the early 1950's? Track 2 on Side 1 of the Band's Doo Wop-era album has a nice upbeat tempo reminiscent of the El Dorados. Continue reading below...
Jimmy and the Barbarellos began singing and playing in 1954, and is going strong to this day.
Story behind the song
This song has the double entendre elements of many mid-1950's songs, as evidenced by reference to "front door", "back door", "let me in", and "your treats". It still, however, remains a light-hearted, upbeat addition to the album. Younger people might not get the reference to "tubes"; vacuum tubes that powered early radios! To hear the original, go to:

Lyrics
Oh girl I want to come on over, will you open your front door?
Would you let me in, just like you did before?
I'll do just like you like; I won't be bad no more.
Don't want to use the back door; I know that just ain't right.
I'll wear my fancy shoes, so we can dance all night.
But if your radio is broken, I'll fix your tubes up right.
I'll be on my best, Although I must confess,
sometimes I get so nervous that I don't quite do my best.
But still I want to come on over, I'll even shine my shoes.
And do all your laundry; what do you have to lose?
I don't have much money, but I'll bring you some plums.
Please fill up your icebox and cook some chicken, hon.
I been so hungry lately, your treats would be yum-yum.
Oh girl I want to come on over, will you open your front door.
Would you let me in, just like you did before?
I'll do just like you like; I won't be bad no more.
