Story behind the song
Philosophical discussions in a classroom setting and reading many articles on the subject prompted me to write a song about it. Part one is very eastern sounding, but the change to part two brings along most of the lyrics and more rockin riffs
Lyrics
i) close Technology makes my world small, closing in on pseudo contact I must receive, send and forward all my thoughts and all my being ii) not quite I need to screen out what is not quite there yet it is beginning to fade My role diminished by the advancing production of duplicate minds I need to screen out all my insecurities and all I hate in me And my role will diminish unless we walk hand in hand into tomorrow Reaching for an end to conclude, and to unite All-evasive goal will elude, but it's still in sight I sense that we'll fall apart, unless a new order restores the vision created by the entity known as man Surely there's an end to conclude, but we're not quite there Minds melt into one as before, but we're not quite there Back to roots and yet ever new, but we're not quite there Consciousness and life hand in hand, but we're not quite there In a fountain full of our thoughts, I'm drowning, lost in a sea of chance In this new age of machines, "spirits dwell", claims the new consciousness Will our freedoms be shared as well, who's to say where the line is drawn? So today the question stands, will this life break from its creator? In a fountain full of human minds, stand alone, but never lonely Live, cry, dream, and love hand in hand we're almost, but not quite there
