Slow Dance With Me (Restored)
Remember your first slow dance?! Track 3 on Side 1 of the Band's Doo Wop-era album is a slow ballad with a sound reminiscent of the Nutmegs. Continue reading below...
Jimmy and the Barbarellos began singing and playing in 1954, and is going strong to this day.
Story behind the song
The lyrics tell the story of a 13 year old guy with a crush on a "much older" 15 year old girl. Ronnie taught me how to dance, and how to dream! To hear the original version, go to:

Lyrics
You’re older by two years, so I’m just your younger friend.
You don’t know that I love you, but I can pretend
That you love me too, when you slow dance with me.
I asked if you would teach me. You said, “Yes, Let’s begin”.
We held each other closely. I thought I was in heaven.
I treasured every second, when you slow danced with me.
We danced to “Earth Angel”, “In The Still of The Night”.
I prayed it would never end.
But after “Goodnight Sweetheart” faded, you said
“That’s good, I think we’re done”, but I thought we’d just begun.
I hope that some day, you’ll see me as your guy.
Don’t give your heart away; ‘cause I’ll keep on trying.
‘Till then I’ll remember slow dancing with you.
Slow dancing… Slow dancing with you.
