Story behind the song
Teenage parties were always an important event. In Queens, NY, all the locals went to Bryant High School. That's where Kathy and her friend Tina went. Terry (Joe) Hass, Junior (Joe) Martin, and Jackie Donovan were three of my closest friends and lived right across the street from me when we lived in the apartment building at 28-19 42nd Street (and amazingly, its still there after all these years!). We got our pizza from the Villa Lucia (which is still there on the corner of 42nd street and 28th avenue) for $1.10 for a large pie! Lots of memories in this one. Lyrics
On can you Come to the party, Apartment B3. Twenty eight nineteen forty second street Friday evening, round eight thirty? Whose coming? Terry, Junior, and Jackie Donovan. And plenty of girls, wea€™ll have a lot of fun. The records will be rocking; come see Ita€™s nothing fancy; ita€™s just a party An excuse to have some fun. Dona€™t get too dressed up, but dona€™t wear your sneakers Cause youa€™ll trip on my rug. Ia€™ll get some pizza, but therea€™s one thing I need. Can you bring that album by Alan Freed? Ita€™s good for slow dancing, guaranteed to please
