Story behind the song
Think this was originally recorded live at the Plaza Inn, Queens Plaza, Queens, NY (we played there often) sometime around 1960. We called this one "We Were Young" and "We Were Kids" because it had both lyrics. Finally decided on "We Were Kids".
Lyrics
We were young, couldn't wait to grow up 'cause we knew it would all be like. A first love, a first kiss, electricity when I'm loving you. Time moved oh so slowly. Nineteen was so far away. Anything was possible. And we lived every day. But too soon sixteen passed us right on by, a fond memory. Everything changed, it wasn't quite the same as when we were young. (Musical Interlude) Anything was possible. And we loved every day. If I could turn back time to when we both were young, there's one thing I'd do. I'd find you and fall in love all over so it could be like when we were kids.
