Story behind the song
I wrote the original text and music back in 1978, at the tender age of 16, when I had a bad crush on an older lady. The lyrics were somewhat childish, so I rewrote them 2 years ago and turned this into a song of hope. Shame I don't listen to myself sometimes. Copyright 2004 Julian P. Keogh. Lyrics
WHEN YOU DRINK (Music & Lyrics „¶1978 & 2001 Julian P. Keogh) When you drink away the problems that you have, You just push them under and they always come on back, Just tell yourself, to love your health, Don¡¦t look for answers from the wall, But you have another schnapps, to throw on back, I won¡¦t bother lecturing at all Having times, when you hope, of living life to the full, But then came disappointment, when you¡¥d stumble, you¡¦d always fall, Just tell yourself, to look at your wealth, There are those who¡¦d die for a share, But its a fact, your a maniac, For happiness is all you care, Well its not for the wanting of trying, Its a sign when you feel that your will, to drop it is dying, You¡¦ve been out on this pier for too long, Its time you moved your self pity along, Hope comes to you in many shapes and forms, It grabs you when you least expect to ever be reborn, Just tell yourself, you don¡¦t need help, The strength for it comes from within, Consign your schnapps, to the back of your rack, And throw the six-pack in the bin, Well its not for the wanting of trying, Its a sign when you feel that your will, to drop it is dying, You¡¦ve been out on this pier for too long, Its time you moved your self pity along, Well its not for the wanting of trying, You¡¦ve got to stop when your will, to drop it is dying, Wandering out on the pier for too long, You gotta move that self pity along, Lead vocals and instrumentation by Dr. Jules Backing vocals : Karolina Kramek
