UNIVERSAL MIXTAPE VOL.2-(Track 14)-This song came about in the same way that "It's Like This" did.Much of it was recorded on the spot. It has a bit of a raw, distorted sound. I just recorded a line when it came to my head.
I am Prime-One,a.k.a Vincent Van Flow,16-Bar Assassin,The Vanilla Thrilla, amongst other handles. I've been writing rap songs off-and-on since 1987. I prefer to think of myself as a lyricist as opposed to being a rapper because there is a difference. Anyone can be a rapper...it takes pure skill to be a lyricist. I'm never content with where I'm at on a lyrical level and I keep pushing myself forward and stepping up my game. I got a lot of different styles and I drop all types of different shit so you never know what I'm going to come out with next.
Lyrics
(Spoken)
Ha! Okay,then
Just messin' around on this one
Some more neat sh** from Prime-One himself
(1st verse)
Now who can spit this mean over sick sixteens
And sound more "mint" than Listerine
Who can blow tracks to smithereens
Or explore a wide mix of themes consistently
I'm that guy,it is me
(Umm,hello,over here) It's indeed
A pleasure to be here,yippee-ky-yay!
And while I'm present,I will enjoy my stay
I do this my way or it's the highway
Turn sh** upside down or flip it sideways
Monday to Friday and on the weekend
Crazy lyricist,I'm off the deep end
I roll like thunder,the world's eighth wonder
Makin' sh** funky like armpits in the summer
(Ooh! That's funky!) And I'm-a funk around
'Till I'm chillin' like a villain six feet underground
(Chorus)
(Ha!) You may think bad of me
It don't matter you see
'Cause I'm-a keep goin' 'till
I can't go on anymore
And (Ha!) You can get mad at me
It don't matter you see
'Cause I'm-a keep flowin' 'till
I can't flow on anymore
(2nd verse)
Like Cris Bridges, things have been "ludicrous"
The Octomom pushed eight from her uterus (ouch!)
Jon and Kate got divorced, what a shame
Tiger Woods is working on everything but his game (oops)
And Bill O'Reilly is still on TV and (do it live!)
Everything's got to be so P.C.
Politically correct,are people so sensitive
You can't say much without 'em taking offense to it?
And in the midst of this doom and gloom
This retarded, bizarre sh** ,don't get me started
On how lyrically and musically
Even hip-hop's not what it used to be
So we need a good dose of fun and amusement
Something to feel good with, something to cruise with
I've got the solution, you're listening to him
(Ksssh) We don't have a problem anymore,Houston (chorus)
(3rd verse)
Got more than a few good lines to my credit
And whatever I meant in my heart,I've said it
Not gangsta,hustler,thug,or a pimp
I'm just an MC puttin' his thoughts into print
Recitin' what's on print to a beat
May seem easy,it's not the simplest feat
Takes a lot to acquire the talent I got
Now I'm a lyrical force that's a challenge to stop
Canine on a mountain peak, the top dog
Chewin' on a cigar like I'm Boss Hogg
Throwin' long bombs like a strong-armed QB
A champion,MVP like Drew Brees
Million dollar words I use to give you
My two cents and if I'm a nuisance
You don't have a true sense of appreciation
For the genius within these creations (Chorus)
