I upload music to under the alias 'Extar'. The music is primarily heavy metal, but I like trying my hand at other things now and again. I record my music in my bedroom with an old PC and a bunch of sub-standard equipment.

Story behind the song
This recording is two of Minor Threat's songs from their first EP. Seeing as the songs are so short and because Slayer did the same on Undisputed Attitude, it made sense to roll them together into one song. The guitar parts took longer than usual to record. Mainly because the time between first deciding to cover the songs and actually recording them was about 90 minutes, so there wasn't much practice done. The lack of practice probably helped during the later half of the song where I was having a hard time keeping up with the insane tempo I'd settled on. It ended up getting that 'everything is about to fall apart' feeling that these kinds of songs need. It took ages to get the right sound for the bass and I wasn't entirely happy with it even when I recorded the take that was used in the final mixdown. I was trying to get the kind of twangy sound that you'd get either from new bass strings or from steel bass strings, neither of which I am in possession of. I'm fairly pleased with how the vocals came out. They came out a lot more screechy than usual, this was in part due to the highly compressed sound I arrived at via the guitar pedal. It was a good job I got the vocals done in a few takes because my voice isn't up to doing this for any lengthy period of time. The drums are recorded in mono, I initially recorded them in stereo, but the panning on the cymbals didn't sound right. This whole thing has already been done before, notably by Slayer on their album of mostly hardcore punk covers, Undisputed Attitude.
Lyrics
Get your bravery from a six pack, Get your bravery from a half-pint, Drink your whiskey, drink your grain, Bottoms up and you don't feel pain. Go out and fight, fight, Bottled violence. Lose control of your body, Beat the sh** out of somebody, Half-shut eyes don't see who you hit, But you don't take any sh** . Go out and fight, fight, Bottled violence. You see me and you laugh out loud, You taunt me from safe inside your crowd, My looks they must threaten you, To make you act the way you do. Red, I'm seeing red. You see me and think I'm a jerk, First impressions without a word, You can't believe your eyes at first, But now you know you've seen the worst. Red, I'm seeing red.
