Story behind the song
This is a song concept I came up with originally when I was thinking up theme songs for a fanfic that I was writing a few years back. My computer died like two years ago and I had some techs backup my files, but when I told them everything I wanted saved off the top of my head and exactly where they'd be able to find it, I left out all of the fanfic shiz out. So 3 plus years of a story I was gonna branch out into volumes was pretty much lost and I don't remember much of it so... whatever. In any case, chronologically, Waste (Ending Style) was created before Waste was. That's because the theme for the fanfic (called "Generations") at the time was a completely different song with the ending them a slower music box-like version of the same song. The main theme was supposed to have a eurobeat feel to it but I messed that up and confused the ending version of it with the Waste ending. There wasn't supposed to be a Waste ending, really. Guess you could say I had two ideas for the theme and was constantly thinking about the wrong one. The Generations ending that I ended up making wasn't as great either and, instead, I decided to try Waste in that format which worked way better than I thought. So, if there were still a fanfic to be made, Waste ending would be the end theme to it. I'd probably give the Generation's theme another shot sometime in the future. Waste itself was a song that I was gonna sing (or simply say a few lines) to. I had never really gone straight techno/dance on a song before (only through the game remixes) and I wanted to see if I could pull off a song that I could picture on a DDR game. "I'm a Waste of good air and time/So get me off your mind/I'm a Waste of space and attention/ So goodbye... goodbye" where the chorus lyrics (quite possibly the only lyrics in the entire song) that I was gonna put into it. I doubt I'm still gonna do it. There are actually 3 versions of Waste that I was gonna do, having just thought of the 3rd version within the past two months. It's a mellow rap version spoken through a person who's dating a girl who has been in some abusive relationships and had an overall ass shaft of a life. The person is trying to get the girl to understand that his love for her is genuine and he's not gonna take advantage of her and treat her the way she's expected to be, a concept that's loosely based on my last relationship. I've never actually recorded a song that deep before (wrote a few, though), and I'd like to see what that's like so one day I'll probably make that instrumental and write an entire song to it.
