I Want You Back (Sometimes)

It's just a 60s throwback pop song with some a-typical changes in the chorus.
Rock and Roll music that bridges the gap between old and new in a way that is true to form, but breaks boundaries.
I have been described as a mix between Prince, The Beatles, and Lenny Kravits. But if you ask me, I'm not really like anything, sometimes I'm silly, sometimes I rock hard, sometimes I write love songs. I used to think I had it all figured out, I know now I was wrong. But I will say that my music excites me more than anything else in my life, so just maybe it will excite you as well.

Story behind the song
My songs are having less and less of a story these days, I'm writing to find the sound I'm gonna send to a label, so I'm studying pop music and trying to figure out what elements are completely necessary and what aren't, the point being, I want to sound like nothing anyone's ever heard, yet sound like I'd fit just fine on the radio. However, I don't think I succeeded with this song, it's just a little too... I think lyrically it isn't what's gonna hit home with the average audience, but at the same time, I'm not changing the lyric, cause I like how it all turned out artistically.
Lyrics
You were the one thing I could be sure of, You were the one girl I knew I could keep, Others would come and go, but you had a special hold on me, That I knew I could not break, And sometimes, I want you back You were the only one who could hurt me, You were the one true source of my pain, If I could soar into the air, It is you that I'd find there, With the will to bring me down, And sometimes I want you back, Though it's not like I think it would work out, And I don't think we're right for each other, But it's you I still want to see, Now that you've left my thoughts have been clearer, Since you've been gone my heart is at peace, Free of the weakness in your mind, I have found the strength to find, What was always out of reach, And sometimes I want you back

really cool, man. your notes on the song concern me a bit though. while i think it's a good idea to think about how you can develop as an artist, and learn the tricks of the trade and what-not, you need to remember that this is an artform, not a science, and i think if you view it too much as a science then you're at risk of becoming self-conscious. i know i give you stick for being arrogance but it's that 'i'm great so f*** you' attitude that makes your music so endeering. i'd hate it if you lost that confidence.
