Soloist. Songwriter/singer. ASCAP member. A NICE WITNESS FOR CHRIST There is an extensive interview of me done by Scott Crawford, at . Do not let the site name alarm you. It is an "adult-themed music and entertainment" site. It is not a porn site, and you will not get tagged for spam if you go there. Scott is a journalist of integrity, who asked pertinent and penetrating questions, then printed my answers verbatim. Both God and His son received much attention in the interview. REVIEWS: "Fancy keyboard playing is the backdrop for this positive and upbeat collection. Hackley's vocals are reminiscent of Burl Ives." Review by Brent Castillo, The Wichita Eagle, March 5, 2005. "world's wimpiest Christian rocker". Brother Russell Podcast; : INFLUENCES (a very lengthy list, ending with...) "and of course, Richard Hackley." "Yet the songs on the Worst of the Worst can be compelling in their awfulness. Songs like Richard Hackley's rabble-rousing, hackles-raising spiritual God's Backhand ("We're not talking about tennis or Ping-Pong!") "; "Richard Hackley... HUGE musical influence. And a real bad mofo live.";

Story behind the song
An example of letting our smarts get in the way of God.
Lyrics
(v.1) Your income has a limit, just so much per week. Pay your tithe. Pay your bills. Buy the food you'll eat. Then scratch your head & ask yourself, "What good is the rest? "How can there be so little left when God says I am blessed?" God says He will prosper you and bless you when you sow. So where is that blessing? Your checkbook doesn't know. You calculate it all again, but it comes out the same. In spite of all your giving, your bank account?s sure lame. (c.1) Too much math can make you think that you lack. Too much math can sometimes hold you back. There are times that math is great to get rid of some guessing, but Too much math can compute you right out of the blessing. (v.2) Finding something you can trust is one illusive bird. Mathematics is the best next to God's Word. Yet even math is over rated as a source of truth. God can meet your needs, but math is not your proof. Too much math can blind you to God's ability. One plus one equals two. No way it equals three. But God is not bound by math when He wants to bless. If you make Him stick to math you'll end up with less. (c.2) Too much math can be hard on your wealth. Too much math limits God and yourself. There are times that math is great, doing good for you, but Too much math can make you think "That's the best God can do." (coda) God is not bound by rules that bind us here. He can be miles away and yet, still be near. Math cannot calculate how big God can be No formula can define God's supremacy. Count the stars and the sand, an endless job, Yet if you could add them up they'd still be less than God.
