Solo Artist, composer, writer and musician
Ray Anthony’s sophomore album on the way Los Angeles, CA Ray Anthony has announced that his second album, “Man in the Night,” is due for completion this summer. It will be another surprising batch of his strikingly original style of pop rock music. His debut album was “The Quiet Storm.” Fusing a creative mix with unique production choices, along with catchy rhythms, unusual textures, earnest lyrics, a unique performance style and bubbling musical energy, Anthony brings a fresh perspective to the world of rock song writing. Songs like “Somebody To Save Me,” “Someday,” “I Want You To Tell Me” and “Just To Be With You” demonstrate Anthony’s ability to merge off beat ideas with mainstream pop rock sensibilities. He uses both keyboard and guitar in his music, bringing an extra dose of versatility to the table. This solo artist writes and records all parts of his songs. He has been a musician his entire life and has played with several bands throughout the years. He turned to writing his own material in 2004 and discovered a new passion within the realm of music. When it comes to writing his material, Anthony pulls heavily from the richness of real life. “The significance of all the songs in ‘The Quiet Storm” are how they relate to the experiences of my life and how they have affected me internally questioning why we do what we do and asking what we are looking for, not just in me but in all of us,” says Anthony. That, he explains, is “The Quiet Storm” in all of us. He admits that his music isn’t readily pigeonholed, but its lack of strict genre parameters is part of its originality and appeal. “I’m still evolving, but I don’t think I’ll ever be categorized as one type of musician or writer. I like all types of rock, dance and ballads even instrumentals.” Anthony is currently working with A&R Select, the world’s premier A&R firm based out of Los Angeles, CA. Lyrics
Cool Water Words & Music by Ray Anthony Copyright 2008 I can’t be the one you’ve chosen hearing from the words you spoken Rushing from your lips like water acting like you never falter I can’t hardly be mistaken for the things that you have taken Feeling as though I’ve been forsaken in a world that’s always taking It’s like cool water flowing from your veins, splashing against my face a mark without a trace It’s as if you’re cold-hearted, ice within your veins, leaving me to explain a mark without a stain I can feel it from you, cool water splashing against my face I have felt the stain of cool water rushing out like buckets of water Feeling like a lamb for slaughter heading down a stream of cool water I have seen the pain of cool water splashing in the faces who falter Feeling like lambs for slaughter heading down a stream of cool water Will it touch you, will it touch you It’s like cool water flowing from your veins splashing against my face a mark without a trace It’s as if you’re cold-hearted, ice within your veins, leaving me to explain a mark without a stain Cool water, I can feel it from you I can see in your eyes a look that’s not a surprise It’s apparent on your face a feeling of little disgrace A look I’ve seen before when you’re about to close a door Leaving me out in the rain without a mark or stain It’s like cool water flowing from your veins, splashing against my face a mark without a trace It’s as if you’re cold-hearted, ice within you veins, leaving me to explain a mark without a stain I can feel it from you, cool water splashing against my face I have felt the stain of cool water rushing out like buckets of water Feeling like a lamb for slaughter heading down a stream of cool water I have seen the pain of cool water splashing in the faces who falter Feeling like lambs for slaughter heading down a stream of cool water Can it touch you, can it touch you It’s like cool water, flowing from you veins, splashing against my face a mark without a trace It’s as if you’re cold-hearted, ice within your veins, leaving me to explain a mark without a stain Cool water
