Funky punk dancey madness inducing industrial. A song about my paranoia episodes from when I was prescribed to ritalin. Tripping gone wrong, for sure.

People Are Looking for a New Sound
(to contact me, scroll down for my email) A note: I'm still transitioning. I will still use my male voice for my music unless I can train my upper range to the same standard. It's getting there, but it will be a while. If this bothers you, well, you don't have to listen, I guess? I will not use my voice for any collaborations or commissions. I'm also not really gonna be using this site once Depth is finished. Now that the forums are dead I'll be moving over to bandcamp and soundcloud. If there's some old copyright stuff with my male name, or dumb peddling of a "game skeleton"... it's probably gonna stay there (because whatever at this point, not like anyone uses this site). Original intro: People are looking for a new sound. I really don't know if I've succeeded at that yet, but definitely, I can try. Everything you hear on this page came from my vocal chords and my fingers. I shy away from any loops I myself did not create. Genres: Electronica - Ambient, Industrial, Game Instrumental - Film, Game, solo piano, classical I compose, play, mix, and master everything under the name Artificial Wonders. I am a solo artist and have been making music since 2006.

Story behind the song
Please contact me if you would like to license or remix this track, and please give credit. I do not charge for it but I like to keep track of who's doing it. Alright, so I've kinda not really talked about it, but I've been off Ritalin for months now - I stopped taking it in February. I've tossed around the idea that the reason I can't make music is because I can't focus enough to get one out the door. Well, I just disproved that theory, because this song didn't come up until after the ritalin had worn off - I decided to take one last night. When I took the ritalin, I realized something. The reason I used to have trouble talking to people, making conversation, having any kind of confidence in myself, etc etc etc - it's all because of that pill. Because, when I took that pill, I became afraid. Afraid of things I had never questioned in recent memory - suddenly I was never going to make something of myself, that all my reviews, songs, and accomplishments were meaningless and sh** , and furthermore, that I wasn't safe. Then the ritalin wore off, and I was back to normal. So I wrote a song about it. This song is my unadulterated and unrelenting hatred of it (Concerta). Take the song how you want - this isn't exactly one of my more artsy tracks. With the lyric, I wanted to be a bit of a smart alec and try something fancy. If you read every other line from "It's a nice view up above" down, stopping at "Funny how that works, huh?" - you get the normal doctor speech. The 'side effects', are what's in-between. Post final ver update: (version 9) - Fixed some drum timing oddities in the ending. Final version: Tried Karma Police's second idea with the panning, didn't work out, so I called up THE CHRIS FEWELL, and THE CHRIS FEWELL said that the dirty drum craziness after 1:25 didn't work and that the counting was all over the place. I listened with my mighty ears and it indeed did not work. So with my mighty hands I put down a simpler and more digestible mighty rhythm, and so, funk were happen. Seriously though, I think this is just about the final version. Any other changes will be minor, if any. Any major ones will probably be a separate upload. Thanks for all the feedback dudes! Demo7: Alright, this is officially one of the craziest endings I've ever come up with. Also redid the mastering a bit, because there was some compression overkill with the ending I added. Demo6: N/A Demo5B update: Shame shame Parker! I forgot to run it through my crappy speakers. Unexpectedly, it sounded absolutely awful. I adjusted the eq on my speakers to match my now burned-in ATH-M50s, and it still sounded pretty awkward. So I did a quick master on this. Pumped up the 60hz range, the 1200hz range, and the 18000hz range to varying degrees, and put some moderate compression (Fruity Compressor - 2:1 ratio, vintage type, +3.1 gain) on it, and it sounds alright on both the M50's and the speakers - though I had to play dirty and put the equalizer after the compressor in the signal chain, so it does clip a little, but it's industrial so whatever. There's something not quite right about mastering a demo... but.... I.... don't have an excuse for that just yet, LOL. Demo5 update: Looked a little bit further into Thomas J's idea - looks like he was talking about the music in addition to the mix from 1:28 to 2:18. I think he was right - this definitely sounds a lot better. Might need to bring up the vocal again, though. Gonna stop teasing myself on lengthening the song till I'm actually happy with the first bits. Demo4 update: Looked into Karma Police's idea - did some panning on the section that starts at 1:28 - panned the drums left, and the lead synth is panned right. The vocals and fuzz bass are still centered. Also changed the effects on the lead synth and re-eq'ed the vocal and changed its Vocodex settings. Still not satisfied, but it does sound clearer. If after a good burn-in it sounds good, I might finally start length
Lyrics
(Do you hear it?) (Do you see it?) (Do you feel it?) *Laughing* It's a nice view from up above But it's sad there's nothing to see It's nice to have people around But yet you are always lonely If you take a step forward You'll take ten steps back You'll have a perfect childhood But you won't be there You will be free, free as a bird If that bird were locked in a cage Listen to me, I'm the doctor If you consider my degree If you pick up the pills you'll be cured But it won't cure its own poison Funny how that works, huh? I'll take three bottles, doctor!
