He Fired Up His Rap (So I Cranked On My Country)

Intro
At first it was sunspots or a computer virus
Then a satellite out of orbit or an act of our maker
What caused the East Coast communications breakdown?
Well; it started when I couldn't buy that quarter-acre
V 1
Out there by golden wheat fields reaching for blue sky
I bought a country homestead with some of the greenest land around
off the son of an old hayseed who had cashed in his chips
I bought but a quarter-acre, Bobby Ray Hunt lived on that ground
Now Bobby's house sat right across the road from mine
and everything was cool until that first Saturday about noon
when he threw the windows up and plugged his stereo in
I stuck a finger in each of my ears, speakers going boom ba boom boom boom boom yeah
C 1
Well, he fired up his rap, so I cranked on my country
He started shouting yo's, my yee-haw's countered those
He cell-phoned some friends, I land-lined some of mine
Soon cars n' trucks four-wheeler's n' bikes were parked along both sides of the road
He fired up his rap, so I cranked on my country
V 2
Then Bobby and some friends dragged band equipment out
Amplifiers and microphones got set up right there in his yard
Sure felt like tremors hit when he hooked the stereo in
and they began to sing along through mikes, Bobby Ray Hunt had gone too far
That's when a Georgia state patrol car pulls next door
I knew that good old boy would put an end to all of this
Rapmaster Bobby Lee filled the air with Salt N' Pepa
I swear my eyes were about to pop out, the cop was dancing the push-it
Ch 2
They amplified their rap, so it drowned out our country
They shouted miked-up yo's, we couldn't out-do those
They cell-phoned more friends, we touch-toned more of ours
Soon cars n' trucks four-wheeler's n' bikes were parked in fields up to where the trees grow
They amplified their rap, so it drowned out our country
Br
My buddy hopped in his van
said "I'll be back with my band"
When the group had set up outside
There was nowhere for Bobby to hide
Ch 3
They turned up their rap, so we brought in live country
They shouted miked-up yo's, our yee-haws out-did those
They cell-phoned more friends, we rang-up more of ours
'Til that far off flash n' the phones went dead when Atlanta couldn't take the load
They turned up their rap, so we brought in live country
(ad-lib & fade)
Everybody kept hip-hopping, boot scooting
the push-it, the shove-it
anything you could think of its
You just had to love it
Everyone sure had a good time of it
Yeah, the push-it, the shove-it
anything you could think of its
You just had to love it
Everyone sure had a good time of it
