Story behind the song
This song is about a man and his friends who beat the communists to make Poland a free democratic country. There's a movie about it: WALESA MAN OF HOPE and my song plays a role in being the epilogue at the end of movie covering the credits. Just about freedom that's all. here in canada we are slowly becoming a banana republic with a police state tendencies and I think we should examine our priorities with "our friends" south of the border who causes us a lot of strife. Lately getting us to arrest that Chinese girl for what, please make me understand.
Lyrics
Song was recorded at the Snocan Recording Studio on Hollylane Blvd, in Ottawa Canada in the eighties. On lead was Dave Dennison of Fame Family Brown Country on drums was Sam Henry on bass I forget. I think maybe Dave Dennison may have doubled on the bass. Ha ha. I'll try to remember. Oh, on vocal harmony in the background is Rick Evans from Ottawa ON. Rick has been on quite a few of my recordings mostly singing harmony , King Of The Ottawa City Cowboys both versions & Men of No tomorrows etc..
