Story behind the song
A continuing quest to understand modes with the help of David Wallimanns teaching - one of his backing tracks (Natural Minor Aeolian in D) had the right mood for the song about the Barfly - a shimmering sound of alcohol induced wooziness.
Lyrics
Give me another and make it a double
I'll sit here all night if it ain't any trouble
I don't need companionship, just let me think
Don't need to talk when I've got me a drink
You don't want to hear about all of my woes
So I'll smile and say "fine" when you ask how it goes
The world is pure sh** as far as I can see
That's why there's no place that I would rather be
Just put on the game and I'll forget the sorrow
The ache in my heart can wait until tomorrow
I'll watch the cup final and forget that I'm dying
I'll cheer with the rest but inside I'm crying
Give me another and make it a double
I'll sit here all night if it ain't any trouble
I don't need companionship, just let me think
Don't need to talk when I've got me a drink
Lyrics - Sandra Patterson - 01 February 2006
