Story behind the song
In 2008 I cut my first Spoken Word CD. It was produced by my youngest son Benjamin Sedgwick and his friend Sara Gibson. I was so amazed that this piece came to me. I needed special music for it and (as awesome as God is) I was blessed to meet Daryl Farrie, a seasoned producer who, to my delight, toured with Anita Baker on her Rhythm Of Love tour back in the day. He was standing in for our minister of music one Sunday and his skills compelled me to introduce myself to him. Our spirits connected so I invited him to my home to hear Makeshift. My son Ben and I performed it for him humming the music so he would know exactly how it went. In two days the composition was completed and we recorded the track.
