Story behind the song
Before this song, I was in a songwriter's block for several months, with the song preceding this just a week before being so horrible that I was too embarrassed to record it. @.@;;;
It began as chord progressions. Then, the lyrics slowly churned themselves out, the old creaky gears getting used to the flow again.
Just recently, I have been listening to Angela Aki's "Tegami", which is a letter to her 15-year-old self.
Soon, my own lyrics were turning into a letter from a youth addressed to a humanitarian leader, asking how one can expect such change from "a child like me"?
But, the real message of the song, is to try to be the change. You're only a child for an instant.
Lyrics
To whoever
It may concern
This is me
Plain old me
How does one one expect
Somebody like me to
Change the world
"One step at a time"?
*I'm still helpless
I haven't even grown up yet
And yet, you're telling me to
Take the world
by my bare hands...
All I can say to you is:
I'll try.
To whoever
It may concern
This is me
Plain old me
You honestly can't expect a
Child like me to
Convince the world?
Is there truth in your words?
*I'm still helpless
I haven't even grown up yet
And yet, you're telling me to
Take the world
by my bare hands...
All I can say to you is:
I'll try.
How does one expect
Somebody like me to
Change the world
"One step at a time"?
I'm still helpless
I haven't even grown up yet
And yet, you're telling me to
Take the world
by my bare hands...
*I'm still helpless
I haven't even grown up yet
And yet, you're telling me to
Take the world
by my bare hands...
All I can say to you is:
I'll try...
