A guitar, power drums, with a synthesized violin. Vocals are on cue as usual with a little tweaking here and there. The lyrics use profanity but in anger not vulgarity.
The matador, Steven Alan!
Steven Alan, El Matador!
Story behind the song
I wrote this song was because I was mad at a friend, I thought they were not being true. At the time they didn’t seem to be a good friend. I wanted to release my anger so I wrote this song.
Lyrics
2 Good 2 Be True
Written By
Steven Alan
1st Verse
I thought I was special but I was just another number,
Nothing else to you
Once you’re done you just toss me aside, like some f***ing toy,
Who the hell do you think you are?
Chorus
I’m just another number,
like a friend you was to me,
I was too ignorant to the fact, because it was just too cool
but I should have known, some things, are just too good to be true.
2nd Verse
Like a friend, you seemed so cool
What a fool
You used me until I turned ice cold
Like the freezer
My world use to revolve around you
Yeah I was stupid
To believe you were real
Chorus
3rd Verse
You had a hold over me
You could make me feel so bad about myself
I can’t stand depending on people
Especially someone like you,
I confided in you and you shafted me
Well guess what f*** you too
You phony son of a b*tch.
Chorus
Ending Words
I didn’t lose much but you lost something,
You lost a good friend.
Rap Interlude
I thought I had a friend
I think his name was Bill
I must have took a pill
Because I wasn’t ill
Thee affects that were left
Of your constant theft
You made me say things
I never thought I say
You’re angry at me
Fo what you S.O.B.
I thought you were cool
But you’re just a fool
I was a fool
To believe you were cool
But you’re just a tool
The words that you are to me are as follows:
Phony, stupid, s.o.b.
User, wanna be, poser, loser, phony, simple child
Thief, con, lifter, crook, swindler, phony, block headed kid
I said it before and I’ll say it again
I thought you were cool
But you’re just a fool
I was a fool
To believe you were cool
I could have left it alone
Just let it go
But not today
Just no way
You needed to know what you did was wrong
And that you’re just so phony
I thought I was special
But I was just another number,
in your game
Oh yeah,
One more thing, you’re just too phony
