Story behind the song
I wrote this one in my car driving back from some NYC gig at the Sidewalk Café…I started beating out a rhythm on my steering wheel on I91..and started singing a lyric I’d written in my diary the week before. To finish it off I enlisted a new music-person that I’d met at a NEMO music conference, Bruce Knowlton, to see how it was to write music together. For some reason, Bruce who was a Patty Smith and Velvet Underground fan…had just the right stuff for this R&B influenced tune. We played that song out for a year just with guitar and vocal before it was recorded…
