Wash hands. Remove plastic cap from vial. Clean rubber stopper with alcohol wipe. Remove plastic cap from needle by twisting clockwise. Pull plunger of syringe to the designated mark. Put needle of syringe upside down. Inject air into vial. Make sure needle is in the solution, then pull plunger of syringe out until T is drawn up to correct mark. With large air bubbles, tap side of syringe while needle is pointing upright, air bubbles will rise, expel with plunger. Select and expose injection site on the thigh of buttocks. Wipe injection site with alcohol. Hold syringe like at a ninety-degree angle to site. Hold muscle firmly with other non-dominant hand. Pull plunger back a bit to check for blood return. Slowly push down plunger until syringe is empty. Remove needle quickly at the same angle as insertion. Apply gentle pressure to site with alcohol wipe or cotton ball. Site may bleed a little, and it is not uncommon for a little of the solution to leak out upon needle withdrawal. Dispose of needle in syringe and puncture proof container. It is important to alter injection sites.
