Love is a difficult concept and some people expect love solves everything. Some only love when everything is perfect. I think the verse, "By refusing to share in the pain you forfeit your love" sums it up best. So the person leaves in a huff with a bunch of misunderstandings and years pass and they think they can just waltz back into your life and continue where they left off. You've moved on and aren't expecting a return. It is an awkward moment.
