Having fun after chores are done---if you'd like to do a version of the songs let me know---love to hear it
Story behind the song
Just had a nice pleasant conversation with an ederly man and we compared notes on his marriage of 64 years in length vs my 35 years---understanding and forgivness seemed to work for him and should for me for the next 30 years or so
Lyrics
Inside Your Hard Head
There’s an old man on the park bench that I always walk by
His white socks are sagging there’s bags on his eyes
He lowers his paper and calls out to me
“There’s news here for you, I think you should see”
Not to be rude give the old guy some time
Maybe I wondered was he of sound mind
Was I some nervous or was I just cold
His grey eyes were piercing the core of my soul
He says “Call me prophetic, some do think I’m wise”
“Some say I am teacher but this might be advice”
“I see in my paper your world has not changed”
“Your bent on destruction, I do find that strange”
His words were softly spoken so I sat at his side
He had this kind attraction and light in his eyes
“You’ve spoken some harsh words” he quietly said
“Now find some forgiveness inside your hard head
Guitar solo
I listened intently I knew what he meant
I’d treated her badly now could I repent
And tell her I need her and hold her instead
And let love take over inside my hard head
I walked home so slowly, not sure what to say
Or how to correct my callous mistake
Her arms held me tightly, she said through my tears
“I talked to this old man” he calmed all my fears
Guitar solo
I go by that park bench in the cool evening air
There’s guys alone just talking I try not to stare
I know that their listening and what’s being said
They’re fixing some things inside their hard head
