A Christmas carol. Since carols are meant to be sung, you will need sheet music, which you can get in PDF form, to print it from, by emailing me and putting "'The Oxen" PDF in the subject line. (See full song info.)

Story behind the song
I started this piece 4 or 5 years ago, for voice and orchestra. In its current version, it is for singing. The PDF, which prints in 3 or 6 pages, depending on whether you use both sides of the paper, contains the melody line, the words and the piano accompaniment. The piano part should be fairly easy to learn. For those without a piano or pianist handy, I have made this recording from the score, adding a humming choir. You will still need the sheet music to sing along with the recording. I have uploaded this recording a bit early so those who wish to will have time to practice the carol. The legend that the oxen kneel at midnight is at least a thousand years old, and has evolved over time into the belief that animals gain the ability to speak at midnight on Christmas Eve. A vocal interpretation of "The Oxen" and the 2nd movement of my "Christmas" symphony will be added closer to Christmas.

Send an email to mglennjacobs@gmail.com and I will return a (virus checked) printable PDF of the sheet music.
