Just like you Just like you

A tale of a NYC housing development just blocks away from the notorious Queensbridge Houses. With a few names changed and a metaphorical twist, the song brings a cluster of bricks and steel to life.

Band/artist history
for all who are unaware, STR8DROP.COM is a union of Independent Hip Hop production companies representing the East Coast. One based in New York City and the other based out of Wilmington (Port City), North Carolina. Bless Music representing North Carolina is a movement created by Doc Bless. Doc a well organized individual from the P.C. in 1998 had a vision to take his god given gift of leadership to a level that would give his peers and himself a high rank in the music industry. The first step taken by Doc Bless was the construction of a recording studio in the underdeveloped section of Wilmington. Through determination and support from family the mission was accomplished. Now having an adequate facility to develop local artists, Doc began to mold the B.M. family. Like in many other cases the initial team started off with as many as twelve artists. Doc was generous enough to give every one of them the opportunity to be a part of the movement. As tough as it was to maintain the building without sponsorship from private and public sources, he still managed to keep the operation afloat by going out on the GRIND to sell the music that was created by the BLESS MUSIC family. In the beginning the support wasn't well received, but Doc didn't give up. With the completion of the first major Bless Music compilation "LIL' WISE- released to the streets"hosted by local club sensation Dj Milliano, it was basically a wrap . The people came in carloads to the studio itching to cop the official copy of that. Lil Wise had the Port City sewed up. The un-official count of units moved had to be somewhere around three thousand pieces. Not bad for an Independent music company in it's first year. Although the Lil Wise project seemed to be a success, not all of the pieces to the puzzle were together. It is only human for certain individuals to have the desire to succeed. Some of the B.M.family felt as though it was for them to get the first crack at what Lil' Wise achieved. Slight bitterness entered the cipher. No doubt it took a minute to reveal itself, but when it did the result was a smaller and tighter knit organization. So in essence it was a good thing for this to take place because in the world of business it is allot easier to have your potential problems depart in this fashion. No love lost but the saga must continue. Here we are in the year 2003, the Bless Music Family a much more complex machine consisting of a majority of it's original cast has joined forces with a similar company from New York City ( STR8DROP ). The story of STR8DROP was very similar. An urge to put a hood on the map by the leadership of one, B.Dallis. B.Dallis a resident of a housing development in Queens, N.Y., shared the same vision as Doc. Although the light didn't shine on Dallis until the year 2000, the idea of creating his machine was laying dormant for many years. Dallis as a teenager had dreams of becoming one of the elite name in the rap world. He has a die-hard passion for hip hop. The embryo began growing in the year 1979. Dallis was walking down Fulton Street, Brooklyn USA and happened to hear "Rapper's Delight" from the Sugar Hill Gang. The sound of that song leads him to the doorway of the music store pumping it through the outdoor speaker. He stayed there until he finally got his mother to buy him the 12 inch. From there it was a wrap ". Barely able to form a fully structured sentence, Dallis found himself attempting to put down his own versions of "Rapper's Delight". Years went by writing off and on. In 1986,Dallis got with a few friends from his hood and formed a group. Not as hot the rappers that was out at the time, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Krs 1, Rakim etc... , they were puttin it down anyway. The mastermind to this pre-mature baby was MELQUAN (introduced NAS to Large Professor). Melquan had the turntables, Dallis had his mom's records for break beats and Ice had the rhymes. They never got a chance to do any studio recording, but were able to gain the sense of unity as a group in the pursuit of the Spotlight. The times changed and so did the focus. They all went separate directions still applying the same drive to what ever it was to be conquered next. For Dallis it was back full circle, the year 2000 sitting in the middle of a hood full of fire. By god's grace, Dallis was in the right place at the right time. In North Carolina at a family reunion, he bumped into Doc Bless in 8th Street Park in the P.C... They sparked a conversation about the industry and happened to have similar ideas. So you know what happened next. The hottest Rappers in Dallis's hood linked up with the B.M. family and form
