I've written and played since I was in 6th grade. Now in my later years I'm writing for other artists and playing with my friends here in Portland Oregon.
Tony's 1st band was the Live Wires formed in Hillsboro Oregon in 1969. Worked as a solo artist throughout the early '70s with the likes of Ernie Pascucci, Jeff Sticka, Mike Case, Gordon Lawrance, Larwance Burlson, and Country Fever. In 1977 Tony formed Bethany Road with Tim and Dan Bronleewe. This band was together from 77-83. Tony Moved to Seattle and managed Circuit Ryder before becoming the frontman on guitar and vocals until 1989 when he returned to Portland. Tony became a session and gig player in the Portland Christian music scene with Bart Hafeman, Annie Graves, Todd Michaels, Scott Hybl and other locals. Tony retired from performing in 2001 after 911. Tony did release two CDs. Casket Full Of Blues in 1998 and Summer Songs in 2003. Also released was an EP titled California, released in 2005. As of 2021 following the world-wide COVID Pandemic Tony has been finishing up his latest collection music, Songs From the Silicon Forest. And is returning to Bethany Road to record and release the first album n 45 years.
I currently sit in on local gigs with Bart Hafemans Hit Machine and some sets with Christine Evette and CJ Minkens of American Idol notoriety.
My first records were, Steppenwolf, Live At The Matrix and Clen Campbell's, Wichita Lineman. I was doomed from the start to make music outside the box. My first band got started in 1967 after me and my buddy's heard CCR and the Turtles at our county fair. Seeing all those girls fainting and throwing their clothes at the bands we thought...hmmm that looks like a good thing to do! By the end of the summer, we had our own band. Influences are so hard to list. In my music collection, I've got everything from The Yardbirds to the Black Keys. Early on I loved all the 60's pop bands, Three Dog Night, The Dave Clark Five, The Box Tops...Listed to a lot of American Blues, Johnny Winter, Elvin Bishop, BB King, And then later on the 2nd British wave, Bad Co. Foghat, Mott The Hoople and such. Today I listen to First Aid Kit, Kasey Musgraves, Daniel Ramano........too many to list.
Strats, Peavy, Les Paul, Harley Benton, Michael Kelly. Ernie Ball, Lyle, Shure. Fender Mustang Amps. Peavey Classic(70's era).I also build and assemble my own guitars. And as some people reuse pets, I rescue unwanted guitars for Garage sales and Pawn Shops. LOL
As an aging musisian who has grown up with music from the 50's all the way through 2021, Isay to all those listening and making music, make the music you like! Stay the course, be true to your core. Be kind to every one except mean and nasty people. Life goes by fast and music can sooth and keep you from the snares of life. Peace Love And Music. Tony Del Sol 2021
