Story behind the song
Scott Ki, a classmate while I was attending University High School in West Los Angeles, approached me about helping him with his college application. He wanted to study music. He asked me to finish a song for him called "The Mysterious Seas" for which he had only words and a melody. After transcribing the melody and working out a basic accompaniment line to use for his application, I later returned and developed the accompaniment into a more complete work. Even without Scott's melody line or any lyrics whatsoever, I believe this expressionistic song conveys a deep, perhaps desparate, message to the listener. The fact that I was studying basic human psychology in high school at the time may also have had something to do with my title selection. This recording was of my live performance at West Point's Eisenhower Hall ballroom piano during Plebe Parent Weekend in 1987. www.dreamintoreality.us
